ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 <br />REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />Contractor shall submit the HMA mix design on DOT torm 350-042 demonsirating the design <br />meets the requirements of Sections 9-03.8(2) and 9-03.8(6). Veri(ication of the mix design by the <br />Contracting Agency is not n�eded. The Resident Engineer will determine anti-strip requirements <br />for the HMA. <br />The mix design will be the initial Job Mix Formula (JMF) for the class of mix. Any additional <br />adjustments to ihe JMF will require the approval of ihe Resident Engineer and may be made per <br />Seclion 9-03.8(7). <br />2. Non Statistical Evaluation. Non statistical acceptance will apply to all HMA not designated as <br />Commerciai HMA in ihe coniract documents. �on statistical acceptance testing will be conducted <br />as outlined in 5-04.3(6)A. <br />3. Commercial Evaluation. Where Commercial HMA is allowed it can be accepted by a <br />Manufacturer's Certificate of Compliance stating the material meets the requirements in the <br />contract Special Provisions. Where HMA Commercial is used (or ihe traveled way, a minimum of <br />one acceptance test to verify gradation, fracture, sand equivalent, and oil content is required in <br />additiun to the Manufacturer's Certificate o( Compliance. <br />5-04.3(8)A, Acceptance Sampling and Testing — HMA Mixture <br />Items 1& 2 are deleted and replaced with: <br />1. General. Acceptance of HMA shall be as provided under nonstatistical or commercial evaluation. <br />Sampling ot HMA for nonstatistical evaluation will be as discussed in WSDOT Standard <br />Specitications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construciion, 2006 edition, section 5-04.318)A, <br />sections 3 through 6. <br />Commercial evaluation will be used for Commercial HMA and other classes of HMA as allowed <br />by the contraci. Commercial HMA may be used (or amounts of HMA less than 2500 tons in any <br />application. Testing beyond ihat specified in 5-04.3(7)A, item 3 for Commercial HMA will be at <br />the discretion of ihe Resident Engineer. Anti-strip additive, where required, will be veri(ied and <br />documented by thc Resident Engineer. <br />2. Aggregates. The acceptance criteria for aggregate properties of sand equivalent, voids in <br />mineral aggregate (VMA), iracture and gradatior will be their coniormance to ihe requirements of <br />Section 9-03.8(2) ihe Standard Specitication, 2006 edition. <br />5-04.3(e)A, Acceptance Sampling and Testing — HMA Mixture <br />Item 4, second paragraph is deleted. <br />5-04.3(8)A, Acceptance Sampling and Testing — HMA Mixture <br />Item 7 is deleted. <br />5-C4.3(10)B, Co�trol <br />Items 1& 3 are revised as follows: <br />1. General. First sentence is deieted and reptaced by the following: <br />HMA having a specified compacted course ihickness greater than 0.10 foot shall be <br />compacted to a specified level ot relative density. <br />3. Test Results. First and second paragraphs are deleted and replaced with the iollowing: <br />The Contractor shail turnish the Resident Engineer with a copy of the results of all �'� <br />compaction acceptance testing performed within one calendar day.
