ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 <br />REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />Prior to placing the grout, the contact surface shall be thoroughly cleaned, roughened and wetted <br />with water. The grout shall be covered with burlap sacks afTer the initial concrete set and wetted at <br />regular intervals until ihe required strength is obiained. <br />DRAINAGE STRUCTURES, CULVERTS AND CONDUITS <br />Manhole Ring and Cover <br />Section 9-05.15(1) is supplemer.ted with ihe following: <br />�Nhere lock-type castings are calied tor, the locking device shall be such that ihe cover may be <br />readily reieased from the ring, and all movable parts shall be made oi non-corrosive metals and <br />otherwise arranged :o avoid possible binding. <br />A bituminous coating shall be applied to all surfaces of manhole rings and covers. The finished <br />coatinp shall be continuous, smooth, neither brittle when cold nor sticky when exposed to the sun, <br />and shall be stro��gly adherent to lh� castin�. <br />WATER DIS�RIBUTION MATERIALS <br />D�ictile Iron Pipe <br />Section 9-30.1(1) is revised to read: <br />Ductile iron pipe shall be cenlrifugally cast and meet ihe requirements o( AWWA C151. Ductile <br />iran pipe shall have a cement-mortar lining meeting the requirements oi AWWA C104. Cement <br />mortar linings shall be coated with a seal coat per AWWA C704. Ductile iron pipe shall be <br />Standard Thickness Class 52. <br />2. Non-resirained joints shall be rubber gasket, p�sh•on type, or mechanical type meeting the <br />requirements of AWWA C11 i. <br />3. Restrained joints shall be as specified in Restrained Joints o( these Specia! Provisions. <br />Res+.rained Joints <br />Section 9-30.2(6) is revised to read: <br />Mechanical joint restraining devices shall be "Megalug" as manufactured by EBAA Iron Inc., or <br />approved equal. Mechanical join; restraining devices shall be installed in strict adherence to the <br />manu(acturers recommendstions. <br />Gate Valves (3-inches to 16 inches) <br />Section 930.3�1) is revised 10 reacl: <br />Gate valves shall be ductile iron body, resilient wedge, non-rising stem s��ch� as th2 American Flow <br />Con�rol "Walerous" 2500 series or approvt� aqual. Er�ds to be as speci(ied in the Standard <br />Drawings. Operator sfems shall be equipped with 2" standard AWWA operating nut, with "O" ring <br />stem seals. Valves must be of a type that has two "O" ring stem seals in the s;aHing box of ihe valve <br />to (acilitate seal replacement without valve dismanUirg. <br />Buttertly Vaives <br />Section 9-30.3(3) is revi�ed by repl�cirg the second paragraph with the iollowing: <br />Manual operators shall conform to AWWA C504. Manual operators shali be of the traveling nut, selt <br />locking type, ar � shall be designed to hoid tha valve in any intermediate position between tully open <br />and (ully closed without creeping or (lutter.
