ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 <br />REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />limiting devices to prevert overtravel of the disc in the op2n and closed positions. Valves shall close <br />with a clockwise rotation. Buried valves shall be nut operated using 2" standard AWWA nut and a <br />bolted, gasketed, and lifetime lubricated operator housing. <br />Valve Boxes <br />Section 9-30.3(4) is supplemented with the following: <br />Valve boxes in paved areas shall be cast iron, two piece units, designed with lugs on cover, equal to <br />"Rich No. 940" as manufactured by Rich or Sather. In grass, non-paved or non-iraftic areas use <br />valve boxes with a cast iron lid and plastic valve box extensions as manufactured by Handley <br />Indusiries are acceptable. <br />Valve Stem &xtensions <br />Section �-30.3(6) is revised to read: <br />Vaive operating nut �:�xtensions are required when the va!�:a nut is more than iwo (2) teet below <br />finishea grade. Extensions ara to be a minimum of one (1) toot long. Only one extension will be <br />allowed per valve. Valve operating nut extensions are :o be mada of steel and painted with two (2) <br />coats of mnta! painL Valve stem extensions shall have a two (2; inch square operating nut and sefl- <br />centering rockplate support and be attached to the valve stem nut with a locking setscrew or through <br />noic. <br />Tapping Sleeve and Valve Assembly <br />Section 9-30.3(8) is revised �o read: <br />For ell wet taps �n mains, the tapping sleeve shall be as follows: <br />1. SIZE on SIZE (i.e. 8"x8" or 12"x12"), the tapping sleeve shall be a Mueller or MRH, DI��I <br />and shall be MJxFL unless othe�wise approved by the Engineer. <br />2. OFF SIZE (i.e. 6"x8" or 8"x12"), ihe tapping sleeve shall be a �.4ueller, M&H, or Aomac <br />SST and shall be MJxFL uniess otherwise approved by the Engineer. <br />Tapping valves shall be oi ihe same type as other valves on the projec!. Tapping valv��s shall <br />be flange by mechanical joint gate valves conforming to the requirements of Section 9-30.3(1) <br />of ihese Special Provisions. �fapping sleeve and valve assembly shall include a valve box and <br />valve box extension conforming to Sections 9-30.3(4) and 9-30.3(6) and these Special <br />Provisions. <br />Hydrants <br />Section 9-30.5 is replaced with ihe following: <br />Hydrants and all inaterials shall conform to AWWA standards and shall be of standard manufaciure <br />(Mueller A-423, Clow Niedallion, Waterous Pacer WBR7, or approved equal). Hydrant valve shall be <br />5�1/4" minimum. Hydrants shall have a 1-1/4" operating nut and 1•1/4" cap nuts for ttie 2-1/2" poris. <br />The 2-1/2" ports shall have national standard threads. The 4-1/2" steamer port shall have a 5" Storz <br />fitting and national standard thFeads. <br />Hydrants shall be painted with iwo coats of high gloss Caterpillar Yeliow "Rust-Oleum" �ype paint <br />with the hose port caps and bonnet painted black. <br />Hydrant conneclion pipe shall be 6" diameter ductite iror. Class 52. Any intermediate joints on the <br />connection pipe to be mechani::al joinis with mechanical joint restraining devices.
