FTalRll GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION FOR THE PROPOSED EVERETT INTERMODAL STATU.)N (Your Project # S90442.03) Milbor-Pita &Moanhs, M 25Aug99 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 General This report presents the results of the geotechnical engineering study completed by Milbor-Pita & Associates, Inc. (MPA), for tae proposed Everett Intermodal Station in Everett, Washington. The project location and general layout are shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1) and the Site Plan (Figure 2), respectively. The purpose of this geotechnical study was to explore and evaluate the surface and subsurface conditions at the site and provide recommendations pertaining to the geotechnical aspects of the project. 1.2 Project Description The City of Everett proposes building a transportation station complex that -„rill provide a link beiw;.en bus and rail lines. The station is to consist of a two-story building with full basement, a bus concourse, and three parking lots. The station will also house an adult educational facility on the upper floor. 1.3 Authorization Our work was conducted in accordance with our proposal letter, submitted by MPA to ZGF Architects in June of 1997. Written authorization for the work was subsequently given by Daniel liuberty on IOAug98. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of ZGF Architects, for specific application to this project in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical/civil engineering practices. The scope of work completed for this project included performing deep exploratory borings, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis based on the conditions observed in our explorations, and providing geotechnical engineering recommendations for the proposed Station. 2.0 PREVIOUS EXPLORATIONS The following previous explorations were consulted on the project property or in the immediate vicinity: • HWA Geosciences Inc.
