Milbor-Pita
&SSCCIATES, INC.
CONSTRUCTION MONITORING REPORT MPA Project #1567
Project Name: Everett Sound Transit Parking Lot
Dale:5Jan06
Location: Everett, WA East side of tracks, South of Pacific Ave.
Report # I
Client: ZGF Architects
Contractor: Greenwater Construction
Arrive Site:I ]:AM _
Construction Site Mgr: Dave Scott/KBP. c 425-531-044
Depart Site: 2PM
CityProject #:I Permit #:
Weather Conditions: Very-weUheav min Temp: 45 to 50
General Site Continents:
Arrived site and parked under Pacific Ave. bridge where pavement was dry. The contractor had a
hoe, one done truck and a progression of containers front Rabanco moving onto and off the site.
The contractor was filling the containers with contaminated soil for haul off site and in between they
would move over and lake the crushed granular soil, place it in the Jump truck and move it for
placement in the excavation at the N. end of the buildings. A small dozer was used to spread the
material out. 1 have photos of all these operations.
1 both observed trucks moving over the site and I walked the entire site using a metal 0.5 inch
diameter probe to test the density of the subgrade surface. The photos will show the site conditions.
Condition of Suherade:
• The site is generally guile GOOD for subgrade. 'rrucks can move anywhere without sinking
into (lie soil.
• The site does have some rutting because the upper few inches is so highly saturated that it
pumps a bit; but probing indicates that this is a thin layer on the surface and the underlying
material is quite dense.
• The worst rutting is where the trucks come off the pavement near the bridge (see photo).
DIISA recommends that the pavement section recommendations be re-evaluated using this new data
and that the contractor let the surface dry, smooth it, rough it up and compact again prior to leaving.
Please call if questions.
