Walls .and ceilings of corridors are required to be of 1-HR <br />fire -resistive construction. Section 3305(g). An architectural <br />section through the corridor is necessary to determine how this is <br />accomplished. <br />2. lnterior openings into corridors are required to be protected as set <br />forth in Section 3305(h). Self -closing or automatic closing <br />twenty -minute rated door assemblies properly gasketed should be <br />provided. Other openings are limited to 1/4 inch thick wired glass set <br />in steel frames, and shall not exceed 259 of common wall. <br />I/ 3. An occupant load sign is required in the gymnasium. Section 3302(c). <br />� 4. Risers on stairways should not be less than 4 inches nor exceed 7 (8) <br />inches, and runs should not be less than 11 (9) inches. Section <br />3306(c). <br />5. The top of handrails are to be placed not less than 34 inches nor more <br />than 38 inches above the nosing :)f treads. Section 3306(j). Two <br />handrails are required where stairways are 44" or more in width. <br />/6. Guardrails for stairs, balconies, and landings should conform with <br />Section 1711. Note that maximum clearance between intermediate rails <br />is 6 inches and guardrail height should be 42 inches. (Guardrails at <br />the sides of open stairways may have a height as permitted for <br />handrails). Section 1711. <br />
