McKenna, Norma and '1'erric i(edis<tprists are deep,
1 very porn•ly ch•ained soils and are listed as hydric on tle Snohoinrsh Cuirnty Hirlric Soils List.
'I'he Urban-land design;uion is used whenever land use such as shects, buildings, parking Iots
or other slructures alter or obscure the soil, rendering soii identification impossible. The
Urban land designation precludes the use of die Snohomish County hydric soils list for die
determination of the presencc of liydric soiis.
 Hydrology
Primary hydrologic support for the wetland appears to be runoff and precipitation. Some II
lateral movement o water to and from the lake occurs during high flows. Additional
hydrology is derived from runoff on SR-527. According to the Washingtor Catalog of
Streanrs ard Salmon Usage (1975), the wetland on the site is not connected with a known
salmon bearing stream within the Snohomish River Basin (WRIA 07).
I xisting rauna
IThe pnd and its associated buffer provide suitable habitat for a number of species
accustomed to human activity. A number of ducks and mallards were observed during field
visits to the site and it is anticipated that the pond supplies habitat for a variery of amphibian
Ilife as well as suitable habita[ for small mammal watering, cover and breeding.
runctions and Valucs
Wedands are valuable namral resources that aid in pollution control, water attenuation,
ground water recharge and storage, and in higher stages, provide wildlife habitat, and
aesthetic qualities. The ponded wedand on this site provides moderate levels of the above;
however, given the de;ree of historical human disturbance, the site functions at less than
I optimum levcls. The opportunity exists for substantial enhancement of these qualities. 1'0
accomplish the enhancement, the cntire buffer of the wedand will be enhanced with the
exception of the western edge adjacent to SR-527, wliich is scheduled for widening in 1999.
I
I WTLANDS
1'he Nntroirn!
