The need for this
traffic signal arises totally from the proposed development
in the area. Therefore we propose that the cost of the signal
be passed on the developers.
Based on the level of development anticipated the costs
could be shared in the following manner.
Parcel Description Est. Trips Percent
North Commercial 600 11%
South Commercial 260 5%
Northwest Residential 14E3 27%
Southwest Residential 1 1539 28%
Southwest Residential 2 273 5%
Southwest Residential 3 164 3%
East Resa.dential 1157 21%
5456 100%
It is also felt that any development which contributes
more than 20% of the trips should be required to install the
signal as part of the permit process. The use of latecomers
agreements could be used to reimburse them as the other prop-
erties develop. The smallr;r developers will be required to
pay the City their share of the estimated cost of the im-
provemeni.s which will be an estimated $120,000 for the signal
plus whatever the cost of the associated roadway improvements
will be.
It should be noted that any installation of a traffic
signal at this location will require state approval and a
state permit. If such an approval and permit is not obtained
then the signal can not be constructed.
