Expenditure Required $9,451.92 Budget Remaining -0- Additional Required -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Parks Department previously contracted with the National Softball Association (NSA) in 2004 and 2006 to hold the Girls Fastpitch Western World Series Tournament. The 2009 tournament will again be held in Everett and the greater Everett area and is scheduled for Monday, July 20, through Saturday, July 25, 2009. Everett will provide four fields at Kasch Park and four fields at Phil Johnson Ballfields. The tournament is estimated to attract 250-300 teams, consisting of ages 10 and under through 18 and under, in addition to family members, tournament officials and umpires. Based on the anticipated tournament play schedule, NSA will pay the City $9,451.92 (the Parks Department's marginal cost) for field modifications and maintenance services associated with the tournament. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign an agreement with the National Softball Association for the 2009 Girls Fastpitch Western World Series Tournament. 8
