It is <br /> recommended that the four arts organizations identified on the attachment receive funding to support capital projects. <br /> 2009 Capital Grant Awards total $20,000. <br /> PROGRAMMING GRANTS: For twenty-six years the City of Everett through the Cultural Commission has supported <br /> performing, visual and literary organizations and individual artists by awarding annual Financial Assistance grants. <br /> Through a competitive grant application and screening process, Cultural Arts Commissioners award grant support <br /> based upon criteria such as non-profit status, Everett-based priority and ability to provide matching funds. <br /> Both artists and art organizations are eligible to receive City Financial Assistance Awards. These awards enable artists <br /> and organizations to develop, produce and exhibit quality artwork and programs. They also increase exposure of the <br /> arts to the general public and strengthen partnerships with the artistic community. It is recommended that the ten arts <br /> organizations identified on the attachment receive funding to present arts programming. 2009 Financial Assistance <br /> Awards total $20,000. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Approve the 2009 Municipal Arts Capital &Programming Grant Awards as <br /> recommended by the Cultural Arts Commission in an amount not to exceed$40,000. <br /> 5 <br />
