As originally submitted, the plan check
would have been simple because cf the declared use of the building. The
drawings showed the use to be a warehouse ahich would be an F-2 occupancy.
The permit was issued subject to field inepection for code compliance.
The owner now ol5hes to use the building as a cabinet shop in the front area
and an auto repair shop in the rear area. The cabinet shop is an E-3
occupancy (Table SA) and the auto repair shop an E-4 occupancy (Table 5-A)•
Section 1001 defines the uccupnncies.
Section 502 states that no change in occupancy shall be made in the usE of the
building unless the building is made to comply with the requirements of the
code for such occupancy. 'flerefore this building shall be made to comply with
the requirements for an E-3 and E-4 occupancy. The following items are required
for the building to comply with the Code:
l. A one hour fire resistive wall is required between the tcoo occupancies.
The existing caall complies provided it continues to the underside of the roof
steathing. Any openings shall have a fire assembly rating of 1-hour fire pro-
tection.
Z, Exterior aalls of the auto repair shop shall be 2-hour fire resistive
walls with no openings because they are less than 5 feet from the property
line.
