this problem. Yet, the emergency continues to exist and if the <br /> identified repairs are not undertaken immediately, the City will <br /> lose the favorable weather and daylight of this construction <br /> season causing these repairs to be delayed until the next <br /> construction season subjecting the City to additional potentially <br /> significant damages and costs; and <br /> WHEREAS, immediate action continues to be required to respond to <br /> the storm event to preserve the public health, protect life and <br /> protect public property; and <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution No . 4369 needs to be amended to authorize <br /> additional emergency measures to respond to the damage caused by <br /> the storm event; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT THAT the emergency identified in Resolution NO. 4369 <br /> continues to exist and that Resolution No. 4369 is hereby amended <br /> to authorize, in addition to the authority previously provided in <br /> Resolution No. 4369, the City Engineer to procure the services of <br /> contractors and/or engineers to accomplish the work necessary to <br /> make repairs to City property resulting from damage caused by the <br /> storm event . The $50, 000 limit on the selection of, consultants <br /> and/or engineers is hereby suspended for these emergency <br /> projects . The City Engineer is also authorized to procure the <br /> services of contractors without soliciting formal, sealed bids on <br /> these emergency projects. The Mayor is authorized to execute <br /> contracts for services procured by the City Engineer herein. The <br /> maximum authorized amount for these additional projects is <br /> $1, 180, 000 .
