Existing Hospital - Additions to existing hospitals must be <br /> 1 separated from an existing hospital by a 2-hour fire barrier <br /> unless it can be shown that the e�cisting hospital complies with <br /> the requirements for existing health care occupancies found <br /> ' within Chapter 19 of NFPA 101. Compliance can be shown <br /> through the presence of an up-to-date Statemen! of Conditions <br /> and Plan for Improvement for the existing hospital (NFPA 101). <br /> , 3. MOB — The MOB is not classified as an I-occupancy. .4 <br /> Pedestrian Bridge connection will be provided to the MOB on <br /> ' floor 1. Health care occupancies are required to be separated <br /> from other occupancy tyoes by 2-hour construction (NFPA 101). <br /> As such, a 2-hour separation will be provided between the new <br /> � Tower and the MOB. <br /> E. Subdivision of Hospital Building Spaces <br /> ' 1. Smoke barriers will be provided to subdivide every floor used by <br /> � patients for sleeping or treatment and to divide other floors with <br /> an occupant load of 50 or more persons into at least two smoke <br /> compartments. <br /> ' 2. Floors will be divided into smoke compartments with an area of <br /> not more than 22,500 square feet. <br /> ' 3. Suites of sleeping rooms will not exceed 5,000 square feet. <br /> 0 4. Suites of rooms, other than patient sleeping rooms, will not <br /> exceed 10,000 square feet. <br /> ' 5. A 1-hour fire resistance rating is required for smoke barriers. <br /> 6. A suite is defined as a cluster of rooms or spaces sharing <br /> � common circulation. Partitions within a suite are not required to <br /> have smoke or fire-resistance-rated construction.
