Subdivision of Hospital Building Spaces <br /> ' 1. Smoke barriers will be provided to subdivide every floor used by <br /> � patients for sleeping or treatment and to divide other floors with <br /> an occupant load of 50 or more persons into at least two smoke <br /> compartments. <br /> ' 2. Floors will be divided into smoke compartments with an area of <br /> not more than 22,500 square feet. <br /> ' 3. Suites of sleeping rooms will not exceed 5,000 square feet. <br /> 0 4. Suites of rooms, other than patient sleeping rooms, will not <br /> exceed 10,000 square feet. <br /> ' 5. A 1-hour fire resistance rating is required for smoke barriers. <br /> 6. A suite is defined as a cluster of rooms or spaces sharing <br /> � common circulation. Partitions within a suite are not required to <br /> have smoke or fire-resistance-rated construction. Partitions <br /> around suites will, at a minimum, be constructed as smoke <br /> ' partitions. <br /> F.
