It may be desirable to conducl ihis ins4�ection during a slorrn to <br />observe the relative flow through the tilter cartridges. If the submer�ged cartridges are sever�ely <br />plugged, large amounls of sedimenls will be present and very IitAe flow wili be discharyed from the <br />drainage pipes. If tliis is the case, it is likely thal the cartridges need to be repfaced. <br />Warning: In lhe case o( a spill, Uie worker should abort maintenanoe aclivities unlil the pfoper <br />guidance is obtabied. Notify ihe local hazard wntrol agency and Stomiwater Managerne�t Inc. <br />immedialely. <br />To conduct an inspeclion and/or minor rnainlenance: <br />Important: Maintenance must t�e performed by a ulilily worker familiar with StormFilter units. <br />1. If applir,abie, set up safely equlpment to prolect pedestrians from fall hazards due to open vault <br />doors or when ��ork Is being done near roadways. <br />2. Visually inspect lhe external condition of fhe unii and take notes concerning defects/problems, <br />3. Opon liie doors to the vault and allow ihe systern to air out for 5-10 minules. <br />4. Without entering the vault, Inspect lhe inside o( the unit, includiny compononls, <br />5. Take notes about the extemal and internal wndilion of lhe vault. <br />Eie sure to record the level of sediment build-up on li�e iloor of the vault, in the forebay, and on <br />top of the cartridges. If fluw is occurring, note ihe level oF water and estimate the flow rate per <br />drainage pipe. Recorci all obseNallo�s, <br />G. Remove large loose de6ris and trash using a pole wilh a c�rapple or nel un lhe ond. <br />7. Close and faslen Ihe door. <br />8. Remove sa(ety equipment. <br />9. Make noles about the loc��l drair�age area rolalive to ongoiny construr,tion, erosion problems, or <br />high loadiny af other rnate�riais to the syslem. <br />10.
