8 Description of Public Service Programs Recommended for Community Development Block Grant Funding in 2009 1. Advocates for the Rights of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (ARC) Specialized Housing Program CDBG funds will be used to pay for staffing for this program. The program will provide help for people with developmental disabilities in three areas: 1) Location and retention of affordable housing; 2) Education and training and, 3) Alternative living support. Recommended 2009 CDBG Funding $9,000.00 Recommended 2009 CDBG Stimulus Funding $2,500.00 2. Assistance League of Everett— Operation School Bell The goal of this program is to ensure that homeless children and children living in poverty have adequate school clothing and hygiene supplies. Recommended 2009 CDBG Funding $10,000.00 3. Pilchuck Area Council of Camp Fire, Inc. - Camp ships The funds will provide financial assistance to low income children to attend Camp Killoqua in the summer of 2009. Recommended 2009 CDBG Funding $2,000.00 Recommended 2009 CDBG Stimulus Funding $2,500.00 4. Catholic Community Services - Volunteer Program Services This program will reimburse the transportation costs of volunteers providing services to clients residing within the city of Everett. Recommended 2009 CDBG Funding $5,000.00 Recommended 2009 CDBG Stimulus Funding $1,250.00 5. Domestic Violence Services (formerly the Center for Battered Women) Domestic Violence Services provides counseling and shelter for victims of domestic violence. In September of 1981, the Center, then known as Stop Abuse, opened a fifteen person capacity shelter for victims and their children. City of Everett and Snohomish County CDBG funds funded this shelter. Recommended 2009 CDBG Funding $15,000.00 Recommended 2009 CDBG Stimulus Funding $2,500.00 8
