A studio type apartment has been created at some time in the past in the basement area of the house.These <br /> alterations were performed without required permits and approvals.The alterations are violations of section <br /> 108.1.5. The space is occupied. The owner Mr. Patrick Garrity currently resides in the basement apartment.This area of <br /> the building in its current condition is not allowed by code to be occupied.The occupancy of this area is in violation of <br /> IPMC section 108.1.5 <br /> 2.The basement area has a low ceiling height of approximately 6 foot 6 inches.This ceiling height is lower than adopted <br /> code standards allow for habitable spaces. The ceiling height in this altered space is a violation of IPMC code section <br /> 404.3 <br /> 3.
