WHEREAS, state law (RCW 42.32.030) requires that the "minutes of all regular and <br /> special meetings except executive sessions of' public agencies "shall be promptly recorded <br /> and such records shall be open to public inspection;" and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council deems it necessary and appropriate to clarify that <br /> the videotapes of the City Council meetings are not intended to be the journal of the <br /> proceedings of the Everett City Council, nor are the videotapes of the City Council <br /> meetings intended to be the minutes of the City Council meetings required to be kept by <br /> state law; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council deems it necessary and appropriate to clarify that <br /> the videotapes of the City Council meetings will not be retained, but will be reused after <br /> the written minutes of that videotaped Council meeting have been approved as the official <br /> record of the proceedings of the City Council.. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> Section 1: The approved, written minutes of the City Council meetings of the City of <br /> Everett are the official journal of the proceedings of the City Council, pursuant to Everett <br /> City Charter section 3.2. <br /> Section 2: The approved, written minutes of the City Council meetings of the City of <br /> Everett are the official minutes of all regular and special meetings of the City Council, <br /> pursuant to RCW 42.32.030. <br /> Section 3: It is the policy of the City Council not to retain videotapes of City Council <br /> meetings more than thirty (30) days after the written minutes of that videotaped Council <br /> meeting have been approved as the official record of the proceedings of the City Council. <br /> ouncilp son Introducin_ Resoluti y n <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this 8th day of Nove , 199 . <br /> Alr,/ , <br /> Council''res dent <br /> RESOLUTION RE VIDEOTAPES&PUBLIC RECORDS <br />
