RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION recognizing Dr. Elson S. Floyd's vision, remarkable foresight and <br />commitment to the citizens of Everett and urging the Washington State University <br />Board of Regents to consider dedicating a university 'commons' designed within the <br />campus development to Dr. Elson S. Floyd <br />WHEREAS, the passing of Washington State University President Dr. Elson S. Floyd is a great loss to <br />the University, the State of Washington and the City of Everett; and <br />WHEREAS, Elson Floyd was vital to the fulfillment of the City's longstanding vision of establishing a <br />research university urban campus in Everett; and <br />WHEREAS, realization of this decades -long higher education campaign brought Washington State <br />University and the City of Everett together; and <br />WHEREAS, Elson Floyd crystalized the vision into a mission to serve students, families and the community <br />through partnership, political poise, and a big -picture focus; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Floyd navigated the currents of community change with a personal presence that reflected <br />clear vision, focus, assurance, and calm; and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Floyd's legacy in Everett will touch countless hopes, hearts and minds for generations; and <br />WHEREAS, his influence has set the cornerstone for the City of Everett and the region for decades to come; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />EVERETT THAT: <br />We urge the Washington State University Board of Regents to consider dedicating a <br />university `commons' designed within the campus development to Dr. Elson S.
