The proposed 6ll <br />activity will, however, eliminate the hydrologic functions that now e�ast in the 0.24 acres of <br />un£illed wedand. <br />Wildlife value of the filled wetland is very limited because of We sparse vegetatian <br />and Iack of suitable soil. The unfilled wedand rnntains some standing water and supports <br />vegetation suitable for waterfowl and xed-eating sonsbirds. <br />'1!u wedand azea at the southem end of the site will aot be signi6candy disturbed <br />by the projecK. A small corner of the wedand (0.03 acres), consisttng of hydric soils and <br />mowed grasses, will be Iost by construccion of a four-plex uniG This 0.03-acre Hgure is <br />included in the 0.24-acre total listed above. Remaining wedand areas will be either <br />maintained or enhanced. <br />PROPOSED MITTCATION <br />Type and Location of MIt(gation <br />Wedand loss will be mitigated by: 1) creating 0.25 acres of wetlands from existing <br />uplands; 2) enhancing 0.11 acres of existing wetland; and 3) enhancing .03 acces of ripurian <br />habitat along Silver Lake Creek. Figure 3 shows the proposed plan <br />Wetlend Creation <br />Wedands will be created on the wet properry boundary and just north of the e�asting <br />pond at the southwest oomer of the property (Figure 3). Exisdng upland areas will be <br />excavated to elevations comparable with the pond and Silver Lake Creek channel. The new <br />wedand area will be lined wit6 peat and organic soils excavated from the wedand area to <br />be filled Habitat to be created will include open water and stands of emergent and shrub <br />vegetadon (e.g., burreed, spiraea, etc.). <br />Wetlend Enhsncement <br />Wedand en6ancement will be carried out on the edge of the ezisdng pond at the <br />southwest comer of the property along Silver Lake Creek (0.03 acres) and on the northwest <br />corner of the properry (0.01 aaes). This will include plandng of prefeaed wildlife wedand <br />and riparian species such as cottonwood, red osier, dogwood, crabapple, willow, and wild <br />rose. <br />
