After excavation is complete, all created wedands and buffers will be
hydroseeded and planted wiih approved plant species. Plant survival the
first year is the responsibillty of ihe landscape contractor. The landscape
contractor may install a temporary irrigation system to insure plant
survival the first summer.
As required in the MDNS, the western bank of the Silver Lake Creek will
be reshaped adjacent to the proposed swale. The reshaping will be
performed in order to obtain a 3:1 slope in the 25 foot buffer. T'he total
area of work adjacent to Silver Lake will be less than one acre.
Maintenance of planting areas will be performed by the landscape
contractor for the five year monitoring period. The biologist will make
recommendadons as necessary and appropriate, to improve the success of
the plantings. These may include mechanical removal of undesirable
plants, addidonal plantings, plant replacement, u-rigadon, and any other
measures necessary for success of mitigation.
Two informadonal signs will be placed on the perimeter of the wedand #i
and #2 buffers and the south wedand buffer. These signs will be mounted
on steel posts set in concrete so as to be permanent. The si;ns will say:
"Wedands are unique and valuable areas that provide habitat for wi!dlife,
improve wacer quality and retain storm runoff. These areas have been set
aside in protecdve easements to remain and develop natural plant
communides. P!ease o not enter or disturb ihese areas."
PLANTING PLAN
Plant species nadve to the western Washington Puget lowlands will be
used at the site. Plant species for this project have been selected hased on
their suitabillty for final construcdon site condidons, anticipated hydrology
after constructio., compadbility wlth existing vegetation, and wlldlife
habitat value.
Previously submitted plans called for seeding the disturbed areas with
ryegrass. In accordance with de MUNS, the disturbed areas will be seeded
wlth either nadve species or sterile introduced grass species.
G?
