improve the 1995 p.m. peak hour LOS from an 'F' without
improvements to a'D'. The existinq southbound left turn lane
would remain. No revision to the geometrics of the east leg
would be required. It will be necessary to relocate signal and
pedestrian poles but no modification of the siqnal controller
will be needed.
At the 712th Street S.E./19th Avenue S.E. intersection it is
recommended that a aecond left turn lane only lane be added to
the northbound approach and that a riqht turn only lane be added
to the southbound approach. St will also be necessary to
provide an acceleration lane on the aest leq in the weatbound
direction to accommodate the additional north and southbound
lanes. These additions will improve the LOS to 'E' in 19g5,
Various other reasonable mitiqations were attempted without
success to improve the LOS to 'D' or better.
At the 112th Street S.E./7th Avenue S.E. intersection it is `
r_ecommended that an additional left turn lane be provided
southbound. This may already be planned as a portion of the
widening proqram on 7th Avenue S.E. An additional lane will be
necessary on the east leg in the eastbound direction to
accommodate this extra lane. This can be accomplished simply
with restriping since the opposing lane for the eastbound left
turn is presently a striped island. With this mitigation the
LOS will be improved to 'C' in 19g5,
At the 19th Avenue S.E./100th Street S.E. intersection it has
been recommended by TPdE that an additional left turn lane be
provided southbound and that a riqht turn lane be provided
westbound. It is further recommended that the riqht turn lane
westbound be yield controlled and that an accelezation lane be
provided northbound on the north leg to accommodate this. It is
also recommended that the signal be rebuilt to include a mast
arm type of siqnal installation and that signal control be
enhanced. This mitiqation will improve the 1995 LOS to 'D'.
At the 19th Avenue S.E./E1 Capitan Way intersections, TP6E has
recommended that an additional left turn lane eastbound be
provided. This will improve the 1995 LOS to 'E'. However, as
stated by TPdE and the city, it is likely that this signal will
be included in WSDOT's improvement plans for the SR 526/I-5
interchanqe which may result in the total revision of the
intersection.
At the S.R. 526/Hroadway Avenue intersection, WSDOT is planninq
a major project which wi.11 include a qrade separated interchange
at the intersection and changes to the current interchange with
I-5. This will result in a complete zevision of this
EXNlllr I I
Chnatopher Brovn Aaaociates
8i9 Ranier Avenue N.. c5uite .b?01
Rcnlon.
