T6e vegetadon on the 511 is predominar.Uy all wedand spedes with a rating of <br />FACW or C)BL <br />Rc:ed canarygrass (Pha/aris arutdiruraa) ia visualiy dominant because of its rather <br />rapid growth oompared to the woody apecies presen� Soft rush (luncus efju�us), spirea <br />(Spirea dix�giasri), and willuw aro cammon throughout the till. <br />Scattered upland species such as Scot's broom (G}rinas scoparius) and blackberry <br />(Ru6us discolor) are also present on the fill; however, they are not as cortunon as the <br />wetland species snd are preseat because of their preference for open disturbed sites. <br />'I1�e area of wetland on We northem portion of this property which has not been <br />filled contains a well-established shrub wetland dominated by spirea and various species of <br />wi!Inw shrubs. The herbaaous vegetation in this area is rnmposed of soft rush and several <br />species of sedges (Car�ez spp.). <br />'Ibe southwestem oomer of the property contains a smell pond excavated adjaant <br />to the sveam, aad a small remnant of emergent wetland which is periodically mowed. The <br />vegetation is oomposed o� velvet grass, soh nish, lady fem (A�hynrim jiliz femina), and <br />unidend6ed sedges. A considerable portion of the wetland is vegetatc�l with an unidentified <br />lawn grass. <br />WMlend Area <br />As a result of the Ceid sucveys, the foliowing wetland acreage wae deternuned: <br />north�rn portion of site: <br />- 0.21 acres uaClled spiraea wetland, <br />- 0.41 acres filled wetland (pioneeringluncus, willow, and sr�iraea vegetation <br />present); and <br />• southem portion of site: <br />- 0.16 acres of pond and adjaoent emergent Vegetation. <br />Figurc 2 ahows the locations and boundaries of the wetland areas. In addition, a <br />nanow step of riparian and wetland vegetation, (approximately 5 feet wide) parallels the <br />Silver Lake (�eek along the western bour.dary of the property. <br />IMPACI'S TO WETLAND <br />'I}�e proposed muld-family development will result in the loss of 0.41 acres of 6qed <br />wedand, and 0.24 acres of unfilled emergent wetland.
