......
umc,r woz,s
December 23. 2003
Duane Osterud
2010 122nd PI SE
Everett WA 98208
Re: Connection to Arailable Public Sewer -
On April 6, 2008, a letter was sent to inform you that a review of our records indicates
that your property may not be connected to the public sewer system. The Everett
Municipal Code requires ihat all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public
sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer rifter being
notifed by the Public Works Department.
Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an
existing public anitary sewer I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer
chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any
costs to connect, including construction and monthly sewer charges, are to be borne by
the property owner
If you believe that your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer
main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so
we can update our records
A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable means of proof Another alternative to prove tlie structure is connected to the
sewer system is to alow !he City of Everett to periorm a dye test. A dye test reauires
ihe owner's permission and 1he resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter
the premses and flush dye into the toiet. In a short amount of time the colored water
will appear in the ;,ewer mam rf the residence is hooked up to the sewer syslem.
In the event you are not currenlly connected to the sewer and wish to dela connec„n,
Ihe City Engineer rnay. on written request from the property owner, extend the time to
connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of ten (10) yesrs; provided
that. at the property owner s eapense, the Snohomish Health District certifi;s, in writing,
to the Public Works Qepartment that the existmg sewage system is operational. The
Snohomish Health District can be contacted at (425) 539-5250; ask for thc Wastewater
Division To requesl a waiver retum lhe enclosed form.
