7 Dianne— It is good to see the weather improving and usage of parks increasing. The tree committee will report to the park board in May (annual report). The Tree committee is acknowledging businesses that properly manage their trees. Director's Report: Paul — Reminded board members to send comments to Jeff Price regarding the draft sponsorship guidelines. Since Animal Shelter opened, there have been problems with the lift station. Issue is being resolved. Will have the semi-annual all staff meeting on March 25th Paul commented on the Langus Riverfront off-leash area. Animal shelter staff are confident that they can raise Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000)for a first phase that can be implemented sometime this year (primarily fencing). That investment will be long-term. Fundraising Report: Jeff Price presented a status report regarding the department's fundraising planning. Art—We are building off a great reputation. Jeff stated that our name, Everett Parks, is a great name. Tina commented that Everett Parks includes everyone. It is easier to raise funds if donating to a specific purpose. Inform the public how the money will specifically be spent—used Housing for Humanity as an example. Jeff informed the board that it was successful with the Jetty Island fundraising. Paul commented in the strategic plan this has been one of the hardest parts to get off the ground. Dianne commented on private donors and ways that companies support employees to volunteer. Richard —We need some special attention for multiple generations. We need to represent the people that are not well represented in the geographic area. Mary Jane— If there are tight knit groups, need to focus on new residents and new employees. We can establish our own key group. Meeting adjourned at 8:05. Respectfully submitted Tracy Quast 27
