EXHIBIT A <br /> Scope of Work <br /> Water Transmission Line 4 Phase 1 Replacement Project <br /> City of Everett Work Order#UP 3421 <br /> BACKGROUND • <br /> Murray, Smith&Associates,Inc. (MSA)has developed the following scope of work and fee <br /> estimate to provide engineering services for the Water Transmission Line 4 Phase 1 Replacement <br /> Project. The scope and fee have been developed based on our understanding of the project and <br /> discussions with City staff,including work done for the preliminary engineering report,Kimberly- <br /> Clark Supply Line Evaluation, City of Everett,Washington,July,2009,Murray, Smith& <br /> Associates,Inc. <br /> GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> • <br /> Engineering services will be provided by MSA for the design of Water Transmission Line 4 Phase 1 <br /> Replacement Project improvements,including assistance during bidding and construction of the <br /> project. Below is a general summary of the improvements in this scope of work. <br /> Planned Improvements: <br /> • Replace up to approximately 1,250 feet of Transmission Line 4,as shown on Exhibit D, <br /> with new 48-inch and 36-inch steel pipeline in the vicinity of Reservoir 4. The existing 48- <br /> inch pipeline was installed in 1938 and the 36-inch pipeline was installed in 1959, according <br /> to City records. <br /> • Cathodic protection on the new steel pipeline to be installed as part of this project. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The proposed scope of work for services to be performed by MSA is detailed below. <br /> Task 1 -Project Management and Coordination <br /> This task provides for management of the project and coordination with the project team. <br /> MSA Responsibilities: <br /> 1.1 Coordination with City of Everett--Coordination will be through the City's Project <br /> Manager. Coordination with the City Project Manager via progress meetings(every two to <br /> four weeks),phone conversations and e-mail will include the communication of project <br /> decisions,project status,work activities,and issue requiring City input. <br /> 1.2 Staff and Subconsultant Management--MSA's Project Manager will manage project staff <br /> and subconsultants(Northwest Corrosion Engineering,GeoEngineers,Metron)to ensure all <br /> work is in conformance with the scope of work,fee estimate, and schedule. <br /> Trans Line 4 Phase 1 Replacement 8 7 City of Everett <br /> April 1,2010 Page 1 WO#UP 3421 <br />
