Assumptions:
• Project coordinates will be assumed 10,000/ 10,000 assigned to one point in the project and
the basis of bearing will be the City of Everett WSPCS North Zone,NAD 83/91. Elevations
will be NAVD 88.
• It will not be necessary to enter private property to obtain information.
• Right-of-way limits will be shown using available GIS information.
•• No temporary and permanent easements will be required.
Deliverables:
• Base mapping at scale of 1"=20' and topographic contours at 2' intervals per City CAD and
Survey Standards.
• Provide copies of field notes, City field book with survey control data, computer listings and
computer readable files of the survey data points organized into a 3-ring binder per City
direction.
• Provide survey control drawing per City CAD and Survey Standards that is stamped and
signed by a professional land surveyor.
Task 4—Geotechnical Engineering
This task will execute the geotechnical engineering work for the project, which includes field
investigations(borings), laboratory testing,technical evaluation,design recommendations,and
support services during bidding and construction. The following tasks provide a summary of the
geotechnical engineering work. The geotechnical engineering tasks will be conducted by MSA
subconsultant GeoEngineers.
MSA/GeoEngineers Responsibilities:
1. Review all available geologic and subsurface information.
2. Plan the exploration program and obtain permits.
3. Explore subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at the site by drilling four(4)borings to
depths ranging from 30 to 35 feet. One boring is proposed at each of the following locations:
west end of Edwards Avenue near the reservoirs, within Tulalip Avenue, within Charles
Avenue, and within Federal Avenue.
4. Perform laboratory tests on representative samples of the soils, including tests for moisture
content, density, and particle size distribution. Based on the subsurface soil conditions
encountered in the borings, triaxial strength tests may also be completed.
5. Provide Geotechnical Design Recommendations.
a. Describe site conditions including detailed subsurface soil conditions encountered
based on results of work described herein.
b. Provide recommendations for earthwork and site preparation including suitability of
on-site soils for reuse in trench backfill, placement and compaction of trench backfill,
Trans Line 4 Phase 1 Replacement 91 City of Everett
April 1,2010 Page 5 WO#UP 3421
