The garage Structure is nonconforming as required by Sec 504 <br /> (C) of the Uniform Building Code. A 1-hour separation shall <br /> be provided between M-1 occupancy (garage) and R-1 occupancy <br /> (apartment house) when the separation is 8 feet or less. <br /> Openings in garage walls are prohibited within 8 feet of the <br /> exterior wall of the apartment house structure. <br /> Mitigating measure: Provide a 1-Hour rated separation at the <br /> west wall of the garage. The garaqe ceiling shall be sheathed <br /> on the underside with 5/8 inch type 'X' Gypsum wall board. <br /> 2.
