MECHANICAL PLANS REVIEWER CONSULTANT <br />MARI EICHNER <br />Phone: (360)705-6783 <br />Fax: (360)705-6654 <br />eMail: mbe0303Qa hub.doh.wa.gov <br />FACILITY: Somerset Alzheimer Community <br />PROJECT: Proposed Boarding Home <br />CRSA�: 98-9208•5116•001 <br />DATE: 2/6/98 <br />MECHANICAL PLAN REVIEW <br />Please verify the heating syatem comply with the following requirements: (1) Equip each <br />resident-occupied building with an approved heating system which maintains a minimum <br />temperalure of: (a) Sixty degrees Fahrenheit during sleeping hours; and (b) Sixty-eight <br />degrees Fahrenheit during waking hours, except when: (i) A room is designated tor <br />activities requiring physical �xertion; or (ii) Residents can control temperature in their own <br />units, independent from other areas; (2) Equip each resident-occupied building with a <br />mechanical air cooling system or equivalent in communities where the design dry bulb <br />temperature exceeds eighty-five degrees Fahrenheil (or one hundred seventy-five hours per <br />year or two percent of the time, as specified in the lalest edition of "Recommended Outdoor <br />Design Temperatures—Washington State," published by Puget Sound chapter of American <br />Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers; and (3) Prohibit the use <br />of portable space heaters unless approved in writing by the Washington state direclor of fire <br />protection.
