The intent of the system is to detect smoke in the ceiling space (combustible <br />construction, sprinklered, used as a return air plenum), and to shut down the main rooftop air handling units <br />and relief fans upon detection of smoke. We understand that the existing ceiling space is partitioned with <br />draft stops per UBC section 708.3. We will ensure that the smoke detection system is designed taking this <br />into account. Currently, the electrical engineer is in contact with the building owner (Sabey Construction), <br />regarding proceeding with the design of this system. <br />Upon completion of the proposed design, we will inform yourself of the final design particulars of the <br />system (number and general location of smoke detectors, sequence of operation etc.).
