1 • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> 11.the Planning Commission discussed the relevant land use policies and,despite the <br /> withdrawal of the CEMEX application,felt it was important to communicate to the City <br /> Council that the existing land use policies calling for the protection of industrial land are <br /> still a sound fundamental basis for land use planning important to Everett's future;and <br /> 12. the Planning Commission adopted the Resolution No. 09-11,which recommended denial . <br /> of the CEMEX application on the basis of the importance of protecting industrial land <br /> from conversion to other land uses;and <br /> • <br /> 13. on January 19,2010,the Planning'Commission adopted Resolution No. 10-01,stating <br /> that Planning.Commission Resolution No. 09-11 should be clarified and revised to <br /> accurately reflect the action by CEMEX to withdraw their application at the public <br /> hearing on December 15, 2009; and <br /> 14.Planning Commission Resolution No. 10-01 declared that it was the Planning <br /> Commission's intent to confirm that the existing land use policies identified in the South <br /> Everett Industrial Land Analysis that call for protecting and preserving industrial land in <br /> southwest Everett for future economic development and job growth are a valid and a <br /> highly important principle upon which the Comprehensive Plan is based;and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council concludes the following: <br /> 1. the City has a limited supply of industrial land in southwest Everett,which should be <br /> preserved for future industrial uses; and <br /> 2. the City's industrial land use policies calling for the preservation of industrial land in <br /> southwest Everett area still valid and it is in the City's long term interest to preserve <br /> industrial lands for.future job and economic growth. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br /> 1. That the Everett Comprehensive Plan land use policies 2.3.9 and 2.11.3 be re-affirmed as <br /> significant to the future economic well-being of Everett and Snohomish County, and that <br /> preservation of industrial land for future economic and job growth is one of the <br /> fundamental principles upon which the comprehensive plan is based. <br /> 2. That the Planning Department shall conduct a review of the permitted uses and <br /> development standards for industrial zones to consider amendments that would encourage <br /> higher employment densities, a better quality of development, and higher wage jobs. <br /> 4 <br />
