Her inspiration comes from her teachers, family members, friends and
young people around the world.
She has a strong desire to graduate and work as an Ambassador with the
United Nations. She believes this opportunity will allow her to work with
underdeveloped countries and continue her father's dream of making a
difference for others who have been blocked from educational
opportunities.
She says she looks at her life not in terms of a candle, but more like a
wonderful torch, which she holds for a moment and has the duty to do
whatever it takes to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it
over to the next generation.
JJ is an enthusiastic young lady to exhibits a work ethic, is intelligent and is
compassionate beyond her years. She will easily continue to inspire others
and accomplish anything she sets out to do.
She plans to attend Central Washington University in the fall. She describes
herself as individual who believes in persistence, acceptance and being
thankful for what she has.
John M. Lato III
John M. Lato III is a 20-year-old Edmonds Community College student.
John graduated in 2008 from Sequoia High School. He was the recipient of
the Everett Schools Foundation Sequoia Award.
He served as both newspaper and yearbook editor in high school. Although
it sometimes meant spending late nights working on the computer, he
knew his hard work would pay off in the end.
The biggest obstacle he has had to overcome in his life was during middle
school. Due to issues John had to deal with on a daily basis, his grades
suffered. Even so, he was determined to graduate with as perfect grades
as possible.
