Her inspiration comes from her teachers, family members, friends and <br /> young people around the world. <br /> She has a strong desire to graduate and work as an Ambassador with the <br /> United Nations. She believes this opportunity will allow her to work with <br /> underdeveloped countries and continue her father's dream of making a <br /> difference for others who have been blocked from educational <br /> opportunities. <br /> She says she looks at her life not in terms of a candle, but more like a <br /> wonderful torch, which she holds for a moment and has the duty to do <br /> whatever it takes to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it <br /> over to the next generation. <br /> JJ is an enthusiastic young lady to exhibits a work ethic, is intelligent and is <br /> compassionate beyond her years. She will easily continue to inspire others <br /> and accomplish anything she sets out to do. <br /> She plans to attend Central Washington University in the fall. She describes <br /> herself as individual who believes in persistence, acceptance and being <br /> thankful for what she has. <br /> John M. Lato III <br /> John M. Lato III is a 20-year-old Edmonds Community College student. <br /> John graduated in 2008 from Sequoia High School. He was the recipient of <br /> the Everett Schools Foundation Sequoia Award. <br /> He served as both newspaper and yearbook editor in high school. Although <br /> it sometimes meant spending late nights working on the computer, he <br /> knew his hard work would pay off in the end. <br /> The biggest obstacle he has had to overcome in his life was during middle <br /> school. Due to issues John had to deal with on a daily basis, his grades <br /> suffered. Even so, he was determined to graduate with as perfect grades <br /> as possible. <br />
