• <br /> He is very involved in the community and enjoys helping others. He <br /> volunteers at the Lynnwood Food Bank, where he has helped direct other <br /> volunteers in the collection, processing, and distribution of food to the <br /> community. His positive attitude shows through his volunteering of more <br /> than 20 hours per week while going to college full time. <br /> Various people have inspired him over the years. He said it would be <br /> difficult to point to a single person who inspires him, but rather a group of <br /> great people who have influenced him to be the person he is today. This <br /> includes his parents, family, neighbor Ann Sankey, the teachers of Sequoia <br /> High School, and Barbara, Judy and Peg at the Lynnwood Food Bank. <br /> He would someday like to have a career that includes photography. <br /> John describes himself as a helpful, kind and gentle person. <br /> Nick Erickson <br /> Nick Erickson is an 18-year-old senior at Everett High School. Nick has <br /> dedicated hundreds of hours to community service including working at <br /> churches, helping provide dinner to the homeless and providing holiday <br /> baskets to families in need. He has participated in mission trips around the <br /> Northwest, including a week on the Makah Reservation doing repairs and <br /> yard work. He is a member of Torch Honor Society and has earned the <br /> rank of Eagle Scout by building and installing a play structure at Cascade <br /> View Church. <br /> Nick excels athletically and academically. He served as the swim team <br /> captain both his junior and senior years and was district champion both <br /> years in the 100-yard butterfly. He encouraged new swimmers as they <br /> "learned the ropes" of competitive swimming. He takes college-prep <br /> courses, Running Start classes and was selected to be drum major this <br /> year. <br />
