12 <br />CITY OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON <br />EVERETT POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program <br />(CFDS# 16.738) <br />2010 Local Grant Application <br />Section 2 - Budget Narrative <br />BUDGET NARRATIVE <br />Introduction <br />The budget information for the Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grant is <br />presented by project component areas. Funding is sought for the purchase and acquisition of 1) <br />Firearms training simulator equipment to include a AR -15 rifle recoil kit, two taser kits, New <br />Generation shock belt, OC system and video playback system 2) Simunition rounds, Simunition <br />rifle conversion kits and Simunition safety helmets 3) Additional storage server space and <br />network upgrade for digital evidence 4) Replacement of antiquated storage server for criminal <br />intelligence information 5) Purchase of LED flashlights for department personnel. <br />Firearms Training Simulator Equipment <br />The first project proposed is the purchase of a Virtra rifle recoil kit, taser kits, OC system, shock <br />belt and video playback systems to use with our recently purchased firearms training simulator. <br />The estimated cost of this equipment is $26,341.42. <br />Simunition Rounds, AR -15 Rifle Conversion Kits and Safety Helmets <br />The second proposed project for JAG funding is the purchase of additional Simunition rounds, <br />two AR -15 Simunition rifle conversion kits and six Simunition Helmets. The estimated cost of <br />this equipment is $3,109.66. <br />Data Storage Purchase and Network Upgrade <br />The third major element of the current grant funding proposal is purchase and acquisition of an <br />additional 2 terabytes of data storage space to house digital forensics evidence and an upgrade <br />to the existing network which would allow for the efficient transmittal of digital evidence to the <br />server. The total estimated cost of these equipment improvements is $26,233.56. <br />1: <br />
