The CPPs were originally adopted in 1992 to guide the initial adoption of
comprehensive plans under GMA. They have been amended over time by the County Council to address
issues pertaining to growth planning.. In 2008,the Puget Sound Regional Council adopted Vision 2040 as
the regional growth strategy for our 4-county region. Members of local governments agreed to update CPPs
by the end of 2010 to make them consistent with the regional growth strategy of Vision 2040. The update of
the Snohomish County CPPs has been under way for the past 18 months through Snohomish County
Tomorrow. Staff will present a brief overview of the proposed revisions to the CPPs.
Drafts of the proposed CPPs are available at the following web-links:
http://www.co.snohomish.wa.us/documents/County_Services/SCT/PAC/Other/CPPDraft4-6-1 Owithchanges.pdf
http://www.co.snohomish.wa.us/documents/County_Services/SCT/PAC/Other/CPPDraft4-6-10cleanversion.pdf
RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council):
No staff recommendation. This briefmg is intended to let the City Council know the status of proposed
amendments to the Countywide Planning Policies.
1
