with regional planning but in conflict with substantial expansion <br /> of Paine Field; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Southwest Everett area is a major source of economic <br /> activity for the region and the State and would likely be <br /> adversely impacted by the Paine Field expansion; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Boeing is the largest <br /> exporter in the nation, providing family wage jobs and economic <br /> stability for this region, the State, and the nation. Boeing <br /> recently completed a 1 . 5 Billion Dollar expansion of its facility <br /> at its Paine Field site. Substantial expansion of Paine Field as <br /> a regional airport would likely have an adverse impact on <br /> Boeing' s existing operations at Paine Field. Such negative <br /> impacts would include conflicting air operations, increased FAA <br /> restrictions and regulations, further limitations on building <br /> heights, substantial increase in traffic, substantial decrease in <br /> road capacity, increased noise, and increased safety and <br /> operational limitations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Paine Field site is too small for two independent <br /> runways that meet FAA requirements and is bordered by two State <br /> highways providing inadequate room for expansion; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Paine Field area is already congested and is <br /> surrounded by numerous residential areas and schools; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL that <br /> it opposes the siting of a regional airport at Paine Field, and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL that it <br /> opposes adding Paine Field to the list of potential sites for a <br /> regional airport. <br /> Councilmember Introduci Resolution <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this 7th day of SEPTEMBER, 1994 . <br /> Council Pr- ident <br /> resPF <br /> 2 <br />
