• The Decision Document requires Boeing to provide a minimum of sixty (60) foot wide
corridor adjacent to John Fluke property east of the 40-95 Building and also between
wetlands B and C north of the 40-307 Parking Area. This wildlife corridor will provide
wildlife access to wetlands B and C which are two of the largest remaining wetlands on
the site north of SR-526.
• Information and analysis contained in the EIS indicate that the size, location, and
vegetation of the required wildlife corridors are sufficient for wildlife habitat and
movement (see DEIS App. E -Plants, Animals &Wetlands, pp E-42 through E-44).
• Certain other areas of proposed landscaping may also be made more valuable for selected
wildlife species by purposely choosing plants of higher value to wildlife and redesigning
the planting plans. For example, the landscaping along the northern edge of the
proposed parking areas can be changed to provide a better wildlife corridor between
wetlands B and C thus providing more potential habitat value (DEIS App. E -Plants, Animals
& Wetlands, pg E-42).
• Supplemental landscape plantings in this area have been required to enhance this
corridor's habitat value (Decision Document pg 27).
• The Decision Document requires that landscaping which increases habitat value must be
provided along edges of all yards/parking areas abutting Japanese Creek and Powder Mill
Creek (see DEIS App. E -Plants, Animals &Wetlands, pg E-42; Decision Document, pg 28).
• The western slope of Powder Mill Gulch has been reforested by The Boeing Company.
• The wildlife corridors are required to remain as permanent open space.
• This Decision Document does not permit the major portion of the site containing Yew
trees to be developed, and this area will remain undisturbed at this time (see Findings &
Conclusions: Yew Trees and Open Space-Section 4 of Resolution).
Conclusions:
• The wildlife corridors (60 feet wide and 200 feet wide) are adequate to provide for
movement of wildlife between the two largest remaining blocks of habitat on the Boeing
site.
• The wildlife corridors provide wildlife access to the most important remaining areas of
habitat on the Boeing site, including the most significant stream and wetland resources.
• Enhanced landscaping has been required and should increase the wildlife habitat value
of the required corridors.
7
