3542-17 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> An Ordinance Amending the Comprehensive Plan Map Designation and <br /> Zoning Map from Residential to Park for City-Owned Century Park, <br /> Amending Ordinance No's. 2021-94 and 1671-89,As Amended <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett adopted its first Comprehensive Plan(Plan)under the <br /> Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) in 1994 and conducted a comprehensive <br /> review and update of the Plan in 2015; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Growth Management Act, codified as Chapter 36.70A, allows for <br /> comprehensive plans to be amended on an annual basis; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett initiated its 2016-2017 annual comprehensive plan amendment <br /> process in July of 2016, which included consideration of Land Use Map amendments, rezone <br /> applications, and text amendments for several elements of the comprehensive plan; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Everett Parks Department filed a docket request(COMP 17-001) with the City <br /> to correct the designation on the Comprehensive Plan land use designation map and the zoning <br /> map for the existing 0.4 acre Century Park to be depicted as a neighborhood park; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the matter on February 21, 2017 <br /> at which time the Commission heard staff's presentation, held a public hearing with no public <br /> comments given, and considered the site-specific characteristics before passing a Resolution in <br /> support of the proposed map corrections; and <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY COUNCIL FINDS: <br /> 1. The proposed map amendments will correct the comprehensive plan map from 1.3 <br /> (Single Family Detached)to 2.0 (Parks/Public Open Space) and change the zoning from <br /> R-2 (Single-Family Detached Medium-Density Residential)to P (Public Park) for the <br /> parcel identified as Century Park shown on the attached Exhibits 1 and 2. <br /> 2. The public health, safety and welfare will be provided for by these map amendments. <br /> - 1 - <br />
