•
•
MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET PLAN
The Everett Community Theater is scheduled to open for performances in early Fall of
1993. This plan includes a method of operation and budget for the scheduled opening
and on through 1995.
Interviews with the administrators of municipally owned northwest theaters were held
for the purpose of preparing this theater management and budget report. In addition to
providing individual management information, administrators were anxious to share
with us their experience and advice. A consensus of advice is listed below.
1. The needs of the community are of the highest priority.
2. Develop a clear mission for the theater for management to follow and use
to make decisions.
3. New management will need an opportunity to develop a program and
develop staff to fit the needs of the community. The theater is a dynamic
process that needs flexibility in order to serve the changing needs of the
community.
4 Theater management must cultivate and work in harmony with an active
board of directors.
5. The theater needs to have a very talented and experienced theater business
executive director. An artistic director and technical director are also
important, but not more important than business management.
6. The board of directors that oversees the theater operation and
management should be a business oriented board consisting of significant
business, professional and financial representatives.
