• <br /> EVERETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1886-92 <br /> AN ORDINANCE adopting the 1991 Edition of the Uniform <br /> Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings as <br /> amended herein and repealing Ordinance No. 1610-89 <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: There is hereby adopted by the City of Everett, <br /> that certain Code known as the Uniform Code for the Abatement of <br /> Dangerous Buildings, the 1991 Edition thereof and the whole <br /> thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter <br /> deleted, modified or amended by this ordinance. <br /> SECTION 2 : Amendments Made In The Uniform Code for the <br /> Abatement of Dangerous Buildings <br /> A. Section 102 (a) of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of <br /> Dangerous Buildings is hereby amended by deleting: <br /> It is the purpose of the Code to provide a just, <br /> equitable and practicable method, to be cumulative with <br /> and in addition to, any other remedy provided by the <br /> Building Code, Housing Code or otherwise available at <br /> law, whereby buildings or structures which from any <br /> cause endanger the life, limb, health, morals, <br /> property, safety or welfare of the general public or <br /> their occupants may be required to be repaired, vacated <br /> or demolished. <br /> and inserting in its place: <br /> It is expressly the purpose of this Code to provide for <br /> and promote the health, safety and welfare of the <br /> general public, and not to create or otherwise <br /> establish or designate any particular class or group of <br /> persons who will or should be especially protected or <br /> benefited by the terms of this Code. <br /> It is the specific intent of this Code to place the <br /> obligation of complying with its requirements upon any <br /> person owning, operating or controlling any building or <br /> structure within its scope and no provision nor any <br /> term used in this Code is intended to impose any duty <br /> whatsoever upon the City or any of its officers or <br /> employees, for whom the implementation or enforcement <br /> of this Code shall be discretionary and not mandatory. <br />
