4401EVE?ETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1881-92 <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the adoption of the 1991 <br /> Edition of the Uniform Building Code and the <br /> Uniform Building Code Standards, and repealing <br /> Ordinance Nos. 1753-90 and 1612-89 . <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: This Ordinance shall be known as the "Everett <br /> Building Code. " <br /> SECTION 2 : There is hereby established in the City of <br /> Everett, the Building Division which shall be under the <br /> jurisdiction of the Building Official, designated by the Mayor. <br /> SECTION 3 : The Uniform Building Code (hereinafter referred to <br /> as "UBC") , including Appendix Chapters 7, 32 , 35, 49 , and 70 and <br /> the Uniform Building Code Standards (hereinafter referred to as <br /> "UBCS") , published by the International Conference of Building <br /> Officials, as amended by WAC 51-20 & 21, being particularly the <br /> 1991 Editions thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such <br /> portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are <br /> hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as <br /> if set out at length herein. <br /> SECTION 4 : Amendments made in the Uniform Building Code and <br /> the Uniform Building Code Standards follow: <br /> A. Section 204 (a) of the 1991 Edition of the UBC is hereby <br /> amended by deleting: <br /> Section 204 (a) General. In order to hear and decide <br /> appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by <br /> the building official relative to the application and <br /> interpretation of this code, there shall be and is <br /> hereby created a board of appeals consisting of members <br /> who are qualified by experience and training to pass on <br /> matters pertaining to building construction and who are <br /> not employees of the jurisdiction. The building <br /> official shall be an ex officio member to and shall act <br /> as secretary to said board but shall have no vote on <br /> any matter before the board. The board of appeals <br /> shall be appointed by the governing body and shall hold <br /> office at its pleasure. The Board shall adopt rules of <br /> procedure for conducting its business, and shall render <br /> all decisions and findings in writing to the appellant <br /> with a duplicate copy to the building official . <br />
