'OOP <br /> ��jj EVERETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. l//Q— gv�, <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing the Everett Museum and Museum <br /> Board, and repealing Ordinance No. 1563-89 . <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is committed to <br /> forming a museum and program for the citizens of Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the mission statement for <br /> the museum program is "To provide an educational heritage program <br /> with community involvement in a suitable complex which includes <br /> potential for growth. The museum will provide for the exhibition <br /> and preservation of artifacts, an archive for research purposes <br /> and the interpretation of regional history with an emphasis on <br /> the City of Everett" ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the museum should be called <br /> THE EVERETT MUSEUM, denoting City ownership and allowing for the <br /> general heritage programs that encompass the Northwest regional <br /> history in general specifically focusing on impact on the City of <br /> Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it wishes to replace the <br /> former Museum Advisory Board with the title and responsibilities <br /> of a new board entitled The MUSEUM BOARD; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: Museum. <br /> The City of Everett is hereby authorized to establish and operate <br /> its own museum. The museum will be entitled The Everett Museum. <br /> SECTION 2 : Museum Board. <br /> An advisory board is formed entitled the Museum Board. The Board <br /> shall be advisory to the Mayor and City Council. The purpose of <br /> the Board shall be to make recommendations concerning the <br /> operations of the museum including providing exhibitions, <br /> presentation of artifacts, an archive for research purposes, an <br /> interpretation of regional history with an emphasis on Everett <br /> and such other matters identified by the Mayor and Council. <br /> SECTION 3 : Board members. <br /> The Museum Board shall consist of no less than seven members. <br /> The members shall be appointed and removed by the Mayor with the <br /> approval of City Council. Additionally, individuals may be <br /> appointed by the Mayor with the approval of Council to serve in <br /> the capacity of alternates. Alternates shall serve in the <br /> absence of members when so asked by the Board chairperson and <br /> when serving shall have the same powers and responsibilities as <br />
