Wetlands, 1989 edition. The wetlands boundaries established by <br /> this approach shall then be used in satisfying the requirements <br /> of this Section. Wetlands shall be classified according to the <br /> classification of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's <br /> Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United <br /> States. <br /> B. Wetland Rating. Wetland Rating means the placement of wetlands <br /> into one of the following categories: <br /> 1 . Category I Wetlands (Exceptional Resource Value) . "Category <br /> I Wetlands" means wetlands that meet any one of the <br /> following criteria: <br /> a. Documented habitats of primary association; <br /> b. High quality native wetland communities, including <br /> documented Category I or II quality Natural Heritage <br /> Wetland sites and sites which qualify as a Category I <br /> or II quality Natural Heritage Wetland; <br /> c. High quality, regionally rare wetland communities with <br /> irreplaceable ecological functions, including sphagnum <br /> bogs and fens, kelp, and eel grass beds, estuarine <br /> wetlands, or coniferous forested wetlands occurring on <br /> organic soils; <br /> d. Wetlands which: <br /> i. greater than or equal to five (5) acres in size; <br /> ii. have three or more wetland classes; and <br /> iii . have an open water component. <br /> 2. Category II Wetlands LSignificant Resource Value) . Category <br /> II Wetlands" means wetlands other than Category I wetlands <br /> that meet any one of the following criteria: <br /> a. Wetlands which: <br /> i. are greater than or equal to one (1) acre; <br /> ii. have 40% to 60% open water in dispersed patches, <br /> and <br /> iii . have two or more wetland classes. <br /> b. Wetlands which: <br /> i. are greater than or equal to one acre, and <br /> ii. have a forested wetland class; or <br /> c. Riparian wetlands of any size. <br /> 3 . Category III Wetlands (Important Resource Value) . "Category <br /> III Wetlands" means wetlands which do not qualify as <br /> Category I, II or IV wetlands. <br /> 12 <br />
