8 <br /> 8.1 Attachment <br /> 2.460.010 Statement of policy. <br /> Prejudice, intolerance,bigotry, and discrimination occasioned thereby threaten the rights and <br /> privileges of the county's inhabitants and menace the institutions and foundation of a free <br /> democratic state. It is the policy of the county to reject discrimination which denies equal <br /> treatment to any individual because of his or her race, creed, color, national origin, families with <br /> children, sex,marital status, sexual orientation, age,honorably discharged veteran or military <br /> status, or the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability or the use of a trained dog <br /> guide or service animal by a person with a disability, as provided in the law against <br /> discrimination, Chapter 49.60 RCW, and this chapter. This ordinance is adopted to assure that <br /> persons within unincorporated Snohomish county are protected in the enjoyment of their civil <br /> rights and to promote mutual understanding and respect among all who live or work within the <br /> county. This chapter shall be liberally construed to accomplish its purpose. Nothing in this <br /> chapter shall be construed to limit rights granted under the laws of the state of Washington or the <br /> United States.
