This
pipe drops over 100 feet down the steep slope to a ditch at the BNSF railroad tracks, and flows in the BNSF
ditch cross under the tracks in a culvert. The water then is discharged into Possession Sound. This
temporary above-ground pipe was installed 13 years ago to address erosion problems on the hillside above
the BNSF railroad tracks. The City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with GHD to evaluate
and design a permanent facility that utilizes an existing underground sewer pipeline for conveying surface
water down the hillside.
GHD has produced predesign plans and alternatives for consideration by the City and BNSF. The
amendment provides for consideration of additional alternatives and predesign of a newly selected
alternative for an additional$208,100.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment No. 4 to the Professional Services Agreement with GHD for the
Shore Avenue Stormwater Outfall Improvement Project for an additional$208,100.
61
