• 2 <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,in consideration of the mutual promises contained in this <br /> Agreement, and of the mutual benefits to result from such promises,the parties agree as <br /> follows: <br /> I. Purposes. The purposes of this Agreement are: <br /> (a)to create a legal framework to promote the coordination and use of Everett Transit's <br /> and Community Transit's respective equipment,facilities and resources in the provision <br /> of transit services to improve customer service,reduce duplication of effort,achieve <br /> economies of scale;and <br /> (b)provide the mutual customers of Everett Transit and Community Transit the benefit of <br /> specialized services,including access to a one-seat,one-ride Bus Rapid Transit <br /> alternative along the City's most active transportation corridor as well as the potential for <br /> further extension of Bus Rapid Transit to the City's other significant transportation <br /> corridors and the extension of Everett Transit's local transit services to under-served <br /> areas within the Snohomish County Public Transportation Benefit Area, <br /> 2.Duration. This Agreement shall be effective from the date of its execution through <br /> December 31,2022. <br /> 3. Administration. Each party to this Agreement shall serve as an administrator of this <br /> Agreement for the purposes of compliance with RCW 39.34.030 for each party's <br /> respective actions in performance of this Agreement. <br /> 4.Bus Rapid Transit alternative. Community Transit shall provide a new one-seat, <br /> one-ride Bus Rapid Transit("BRT") alternative for citizens of Everett traveling from <br /> Everett Station to King County along the corridor comprised of Highway 99,Evergreen <br /> Way,Rucker Avenue and Pacific Avenue. <br /> 5.Bus Rapid Transit level of service, Community Transit shall ensure that the above- <br /> referenced new BRT alternative meets Community Transit's BRT service standards.Both <br /> parties shall comply,through agreement or otherwise,with the federal requirements to <br /> provide paratransit services, <br /> 6. Ri t hts to fares and boardin is aloe t Bus Ra•id Transit route. Community Transit <br /> will have the right to keep all fares collected and count toward its transit statistics all <br /> boardings along the above-referenced new BRT route, <br /> 7. Regular Bus Rapid Transit stations. Community Transit shall build regular BRT <br /> stations within the City of Everett along the Highway 99,Evergreen Way,Rucker <br /> Avenue and Pacific Avenue corridors and is currently scheduled to complete construction <br /> no later than December 31,2009. <br /> 2 <br /> 3 <br />
