Other Commissioners attending: Commissioner Olivers, Commissioner Chase, Commissioner Sand, Commissioner Adams,and Commissioner Jordison. Commissioner(s) Absent from Roll Call: Commissioner Murphy and Commissioner Alder Meeting Minutes Motion: Commissioner Olivers made a motion to approve the February 21, 2012 meeting minutes. Commissioner Sand seconded the motion. 6:31:10 PM Commissioner Murphy arrived. Vote: Commissioner Jordison,yes; Commissioner Adams,yes; Commissioner Sand,yes; Commissioner Chase, abstain; Commissioner Olivers,yes; Commissioner Murphy,yes; and Chair Sosin,yes. Motion Carried. 6:31:19 PM r Item 1: Presentation by the Parks Department regarding Planning C. mission membership on the Everett Tree Committee John Peterson,Assistant Director, Everett Parks and Recreati. , stated that he would like to know if a Planning Commissioner would be interested in volunteeri or the Tree Committee which is a subcommittee of the Board of Parks Commissioners. If nning Commission recommends one of its members to the Mayor and if the Mayor concurs,th- ppointment is confirmed by City Council which fills an unexpired six year term through the end of 117. City Council passed Ordinance 1948-93 in June of 1993. The Ordinance addressed manageme of trees on City owned property and rights-of-way and established the Tree Committee as a subco ittee of the Board of Park Commissioners. Parks and Public Works staff supports the work oft committee. The primary responsibilities of the Tree Committee is implementation of the p is tree policy,the committee advises the Planning Commission regarding urban forestry standards, d to the extent practical, a representative from the Planning Commission is desired for the co P ittee but not required. The Tree Committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month from '-8 p.m.at Forest Park and meets approximately 9 months of the year. 6:33:05 PM Chair Sosin asked if a of the Commissioners had any questions. There was no response. Chair Sosin asked if there wer: :ny volunteers. Commissioner Adams mentioned that he would have a conflict with a non-profit bo. ': that he sits on. Chair Sosin asked if a Commissioner was interested, could they contact the P, ks Department. Mr. Peterson responded yes and that the Commissioner should speak to Paul Kaft. ki,the Parks Director.
