This is shown in Figure 5. The new tie <br /> rods were installed through holes cut into the sheet piles, and pass through gaps cut into the existing <br /> timber bulkhead,then extend to temporary piles.The tie rods are supported between the new sheet <br /> piles and the temporary piles with wood supports.There does not appear to be any excess deflection of <br /> the tie rods that could damage the corrosion protection system. <br /> It appears that the soil behind the existing timber bulkhead was excavated down to approximately the <br /> elevation that was indicated in the sheet pile installation submittal. <br /> '111 5 <br />
