Because this deviated <br /> from the contract documents and the approved construction sequence, Moffatt & Nichol and the Port <br /> met with the Contractor to discuss the issue. Moffatt& Nichol and the Port explained to the Contractor <br /> that if they wanted to deviate from the approved construction sequence they would have to submit <br /> calculations signed and stamped by a registered engineer indicating that the sheet pile allowable <br /> deflections and stresses would not be exceeded.
