ARTICLE 24 - FUNERAL LEAVE <br /> 24.1 Leave. <br /> 24.1.1 When death occurs among members of an employee's immediate family, the <br /> employee, upon request to the Chief of Police or designee, will be granted time <br /> off to assist with funeral arrangements as necessary, and to attend the funeral. The <br /> employee will be compensated at his/her normal salary for the hours lost from <br /> his/her regular schedule, before, during, and/or after the funeral, with the <br /> maximum of four (4) days allowance. This time off shall not be deducted from <br /> accumulated sick leave, vacation, or other earned time off <br /> 24.1.2 "Members of an employees immediate family" shall include spouse, domestic <br /> partner and children, to include stepchildren, children of a domestic partner; <br /> parents, step parents, and siblings of the employee or spouse or domestic partner; <br /> grandparents or step grandparents of the employee or spouse or domestic partner; <br /> or grandchildren. <br /> 24.1.3 Domestic partner is defined for purposes of this article as the criteria outlined by <br /> the City's Domestic Partner Resolution or the State Registry.
