The process for revising population and employment growth targets for all
jurisdictions in our county is guided by the Snohomish Countywide Planning Policies. The established
process requires cities to provide preliminary targets to the County in January,2013.
The Resolution contains preliminary numbers that Everett will use as a starting point for the plan update
process. These numbers are likely to change as we conduct our public process and technical planning work.
The preliminary growth targets are influenced by the Vision 2040 Regional Growth Strategy adopted by the
Puget Sound Regional Council in 2008.
The resolution contains detailed findings explaining the basis for the preliminary growth targets contained in
the resolution. Staff will provide more information at the City Council briefing on January 2, 2013.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Adopt Resolution establishing preliminary
2035 growth targets for consideration in the 2015 update of the City's Growth Management Comprehensive
Plan.
7
